Oli Ahmad announces solo election bid, parts ways with BNP

Liberal Democratic Party, LDP president and Bir Bikrom Dr Colonel Oli Ahmad has announced that he will contest the upcoming election independently, ending his alliance with the BNP.

He made the announcement at a press conference at the LDP party office in Gulfeisha Tower, Mogbazar, Dhaka, on December 24 at 12pm.

LDP presidium member and former MP Nurul Alam Talukdar, Dr Niyamul Bashir, Dr Aurangzeb Belal, Advocate Mahbub Morshed and other senior party leaders were present at the press conference.

Earlier in the day, LDP secretary general Dr Redowan Ahmed joined the BNP. He will contest the election from the Cumilla-7 constituency with the 'Dhaner Sheesh' symbol.
