The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has arrested a man named Ahsan Jahir Khan, 50, from the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar area in the capital. The CTTC claims he is a member of the "Ehsar" level of the banned militant organisation Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and an active worker of the neo-JMB.

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) stated in a press release on Monday that Ahsan Jahir Khan was arrested around 7:00 pm on Sunday during an operation near the southwest part of the Zia Uddan Lake in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

According to CTTC sources, the arrested individual and his fugitive associates had gathered at the location, allegedly inspired by neo-JMB ideology to plan and prepare for destructive activities aimed at damaging state property. They further claim that Ahsan and his accomplices communicated using various online platforms—such as Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, and Telegram—via group chats, private messages, and channels, operating under different pseudonyms to advance their extremist objectives.

Police have also stated that a case under the Anti-Terrorism Act is already pending against the arrested individual in the Fulbariya Police Station of Mymensingh. He has been produced before the court in a new case filed under the same act at the Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station
