One arrested on charge of raping minor in Rangpur

Police have arrested a person named Imarat Ali, 58, on the charge of raping a nine-year-old child in Rangpur city.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Haragach thana Ashok Chauhan has informed citing the family that the child was raped on Friday evening.

Police said after the incident the child returned home and informed the family members about the matter. Later locals detained Imarat Ali at the spot and informed the police. Police went and took him into custody.

OC Ashok Chauhan said the mother of the child filed a case under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on Saturday morning. Imarat Ali has been shown arrested in that case.

He further said the process of doing the necessary medical examination of the child is underway.
