One killed, 15 injured in three-bus collision on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway

One person has been killed and at least 15 others injured in a head-on collision involving three buses on the Chattogram-Cox's Bazar highway in the Patiya area of Chattogram. Four of the injured, in critical condition, have been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital.

The incident occurred around 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 18, at the Jaluar Dighi Par area in Patiya.

According to sources, smoke rising from a pile of hay on the road caused a bus driver to brake unexpectedly, leading to a collision with a bus coming from the opposite direction. Another bus then lost control and crashed into them.

The deceased has been identified as Banshi Mohan Dash, 50, a passenger of Eagle Transport. Among the injured, a five-year-old child named Mohammad, Joynal, 30, Mintu Dash, 19, and Anwar, 38, have received primary treatment.

Patiya Fire Service and Highway Police quickly arrived at the scene, rescued the injured and worked to control the smoke. The buses have been seized and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
