One killed, 20 injured in Brahmanbaria clash over Ludo game

A man named Hamdu Mia (53) was killed in a clash between two groups in Bijoynagar upazila of Brahmanbaria over a Ludo game played by children. At least 20 others were injured in the incident. Additional police have been deployed in the area as tensions remain high.

The clash occurred around 11am on Saturday (August 1) in the Paikpara Banderhati area under Harashpur Union of Bijoynagar upazila.

According to police and local sources, on Friday afternoon, an argument broke out between Hamdu Mia's son Nirab (11) and Abul Islam's son Yasin (12) over a game of Ludo. At one point, Nirab struck Yasin on the head with a stick.

In retaliation, a group led by Abul Islam allegedly attacked Hamdu Mia's house with local weapons on Saturday morning. This sparked a massive clash between the two sides. Hamdu Mia was killed, and at least 20 others were injured. The injured are receiving treatment at various hospitals and clinics.

Police from Bijoynagar Police Station arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

Bijoynagar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Ahsan Ullah said the body of the deceased has been recovered and taken to the police station. Tension still prevails in the area. Additional police have been deployed to prevent further clashes, and the situation remains under close monitoring.
