One killed as motorcycle crashes into railing on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway

A young man was killed and another injured after their motorcycle lost control and crashed into a roadside railing on the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway in Sirajdikhan of Munshiganj.

The accident occurred around 6:30am on the Dhaka-bound lane near the slope of the Dhaleshwari-1 Bridge in Kuchiamora village under Keyain union on Friday morning (September 11).

The deceased was identified as Hridoy, 27, son of late Sayed Mia, from Rasulpur village in Abdullahpur, South Keraniganj. The injured, Sajjad, 24, is from Uttar Ghoramara in Sirajdikhan.

Mohammad Arif Anwar, warehouse inspector at Sirajdikhan Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the motorcycle lost control on the bridge approach and slammed into the railing, leaving both riders injured.

A fire service unit reached the scene shortly after the accident and launched a rescue operation. Sajjad was taken to a hospital for treatment, while Hridoy died at the scene.

His body was handed over to highway police.

Fire service officials said they initially suspected that the motorcycle lost control, leading to the crash.
