One killed in head-on collision with truck in Madaripur

A pickup driver was killed and his assistant seriously injured when their van collided head-on with a gas cylinder-laden truck on the Dhaka-Barishal highway in Madaripur.

The deceased was identified as Ajay Kumar Hawladar, 32, hailed from Charduwana village in Patharghata of Barguna.

The accident took placd around 9:30pm in the Samaddar area of Madaripur Sadar on Tuesday (March 31).

According to police and local sources, the truck was heading to Dhaka from Barishal when it collided with the pickup coming from the opposite direction. Locals rescued the victims and rushed them to Madaripur 250-bed District Hospital, where Ajay Kumar was declared dead.

His assistant, critically injured, has been transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

Mamun Al Rashid, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mostafapur Highway Police Station confirmed about the incident.
