One more dies of dengue, death toll rises to 250

One more person has died of dengue across the country in the last 24 hours. During the same period, 1,163 new dengue patients were admitted to hospital. With this, the number of dengue deaths in the current year has risen to 250.

The information was provided in the updated dengue-related notification of the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday. It presented data for the 24 hours from 8am on Thursday to 8am on Friday.

The DGHS said the person who died in the last 24 hours was undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka division.

On a monthly basis this year, two people died of dengue in January, two in February, one in May, 13 in June, 36 in July, 43 in August and 148 in September. Five people have died in October so far.

Among the 1,163 people admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours, 80 were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) area and 45 to hospitals in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) area. A total of 295 were admitted outside the city corporation areas of Dhaka.

Outside Dhaka, the highest number of patients were admitted in Chattogram division, 333. Additionally, 151 new patients were admitted to hospital in Barishal division, 111 in Khulna, 77 in Mymensingh and 71 in Rangpur.

According to DGHS data, 82,761 people have been admitted to hospital with dengue from January 1 of the current year to date. Among them, 76,862 have recovered and been discharged. Currently, 5,649 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the country.
