One party is saying voting for them will guarantee heaven: Salahuddin
BNP standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has alleged that one party is deceiving people by claiming that voting for them will guarantee heaven after death. He said the public must remain alert against such deception.
He made the remarks on Wednesday January 28 at 11 am at an election street meeting held at the BMS High School field in Saharbil Union of Chakaria upazila in Cox’s Bazar.
Salahuddin Ahmed said that through the election on February 12, the people will regain ownership of their state. You will cast your vote, you will vote for whomever you wish, for the candidate of your choice. This is how democracy must be strengthened.
He further said there should never again be incidents of enforced disappearances in Bangladesh. No mother should have to feel the pain of losing her child. BNP wants to build a Bangladesh where no one will disappear and where those who have struggled for democracy will be given due respect.
The senior BNP leader said if the people like BNP’s programmes, plans and vision for the state, they will certainly vote for BNP. Similarly, other political parties will present their programmes and plans to the people. The people will vote for whoever they prefer—this is the beauty of democracy and this is how it should be.
Speaking about his political life, Salahuddin Ahmed said he has been with the people for the past 35 years. In 2008, he could not contest the election due to being imprisoned. At that time, the people elected his wife, Advocate Hasina Ahmed, with more votes than he himself had received. For this, he and his family remain eternally grateful.
He said his life was endangered while struggling to establish democracy. At one point, the country reached a situation where no one could speak freely or exercise their voting rights. Democracy had been lost.
