Only 7 attend NCP protest rally in Chuadanga
The National Citizen Party (NCP) held a protest rally in Chuadanga with only seven leaders and activists to protest the attack on NCP leaders in Habiganj. The programme did not even have any banners. The rally took place in front of the Shilpakala Academy in the district town at 5:45pm on Wednesday (July 29).
Addressing the rally, NCP Chuadanga district unit member secretary Alamgir Hossain said they were strongly protesting the attack on party leaders in Habiganj and demanding that those involved be brought to justice swiftly. He said the protest programmes would continue until the perpetrators were brought under the law.
He further said the kind of repression witnessed in the past is now being reflected even under the current government. They want a corruption-free and discrimination-free Bangladesh, he added.
Regarding the rally with only seven people, Alamgir Hossain said the limited protest was organised to send a message that incidents like the one in Habiganj should not happen elsewhere in the country.
Others present at the rally included district unit senior joint convener Rabiul Kadir Rokon, senior joint member secretary Ali Rushdi Majnu, joint publicity secretary Sohel Rana, joint organising secretary Masud Rana, municipal member secretary Yasin Ali, and Chhatra Shaktir district representative Shakibur Rahman.
