Osman Hadi dies after surgery: Dr. Ahad

Inqilab Mancha convener Sharif Osman Hadi died after surgery, said Dr. Md. Abdul Ahad, a doctor at the neurosurgery department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) and member secretary of the National Health Alliance (NHA).

He gave this information in an interview with a television channel on Thursday (December 18) night.

Dr. Md. Abdul Ahad said that Osman Hadi's family agreed to the surgery around 5pm Bangladesh time. After that, he was taken to the operation theater. "There was no further update after the operation. Later, the news of his death was directly reported," he said.

When asked about bringing Hadi's body to the country, Dr. Ahad said that the news of the death has just been received. The next decision will be announced after discussing the matter with the government.

On December 12, Sharif Osman Hadi was shot from a moving motorcycle while he was attending a public meeting in the capital's Bijoynagar area. He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with serious injuries after being shot in the head. After undergoing surgery there, he was admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka and later sent to Singapore by air ambulance for better treatment.
