Osman Hadi not being included in the textbook
Sharif Osman bin Hadi, the late spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho, is not to be included in the textbooks for the upcoming 2027 academic year.
The National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) has taken a final plan in this regard in the latest high-level meeting, where no agenda was raised on the matter.
It is learned that several important changes are coming to the textbooks for the upcoming academic year. New lessons are being prepared based on two essays titled 'Birth of a Nation' and 'Memories of the War of Independence' written by martyred President Ziaur Rahman in the ninth-tenth grade Bengali literature books. Changes are also coming to the lesson 'Our Memorable Leaders' in the fifth-grade Bangladesh and World Introduction book for primary school — this time, martyred President Ziaur Rahman and Begum Khaleda Zia will be added to the current four leaders. However, Osman Hadi's name will not be included in this lesson.
NCTB Primary Curriculum Wing member Professor Dr. Md. Iqbal Haider said, "The editing work of the primary textbooks for the next academic year is 100% complete, our editing work is over, the remaining activities will begin. The subject of Sharif Osman Hadi is not being added to the Bangladesh and World Introduction books for the primary in the 2027 academic year."
Regarding the overall progress of the editing of the primary textbooks, he said that the editing work of a total of 36 textbooks from the first to the fifth grade has been 100% completed. However, the editing of two new books for the fourth grade announced by the government is still pending, the work plan for which has been planned to be completed by August 10.
