An outsourced worker employed on a Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) project has been detained for allegedly filming and photographing a restricted area of the Metro Rail depot without authorisation and sharing the footage on social media.

According to a DMTCL press release issued on Wednesday (22 July), the individual was working on the MRT Line-5 (Northern Route) project. He was later handed over to the police for legal action, and a case has been filed with Turag Police Station in the capital.

DMTCL said it maintains a strict stance on ensuring the overall security of the Metro Rail system, which serves as a key component of Dhaka's public transport network.

The company alleged that the worker breached the confidentiality of a restricted area within the Metro Rail depot, which is designated as a Key Point Installation (KPI), by taking photographs and videos without permission and disseminating them on social media, thereby creating public confusion.

DMTCL said it would continue to take appropriate legal action to protect the security and confidentiality of such restricted installations.
