More than 168,000 overseas Bangladeshis have registered to vote via postal ballot for the 13th National Parliament election and the referendum.
According to data released on the Election Commission’s website, as of 9:00am on Thursday (December 4), a total of 1,68,033 expatriate voters had registered through the 'Postal Vote BD' app, including 1,49,884 men and 18,149 women.
The Election Commission (EC) has extended the registration deadline via the app to 25 December. The app was officially inaugurated by the Chief Election Commissioner on 18 November.
To register, voters must use a mobile number from the country where they currently reside. The 'Postal Vote BD' app is available on Google Play Store and App Store, offering both Bengali and English language options. Voters are required to submit the necessary documents through the app.
The EC has instructed voters to provide accurate and complete addresses to ensure the postal ballots are delivered correctly.
