More than 200 Bangladeshi nationals residing in Iran are currently stranded at the Azerbaijan border, awaiting repatriation due to heightened security concerns following US and Israeli military actions in the region.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran has coordinated the evacuation.

Embassy head H M Bonan confirmed that nine buses carrying over 200 citizens departed yesterday afternoon toward the Astara border.

Embassy officials, including Chargé d’Affaires Rabeya Sultana, are accompanying the evacuees to provide assistance.

At Baku Airport, six vehicles are ready to transport passengers, but immigration procedures and border congestion have delayed arrival.

The flight, originally scheduled for 5:00pm, has been postponed to 7:00pm, raising concerns among evacuees about timely boarding.

Bangladesh Biman is preparing to fly the evacuees back home on a dedicated repatriation flight.
