Over 300 judges to be promoted to district judge positions

Over 300 subordinate court judges will be promoted to district judge posts and over 200 to additional district judge positions.

The decision was made at a full court meeting on Tuesday afternoon (November 4), attended by all Supreme Court judges.

The Full Court, chaired by Chief Justice Dr. Syed Refaat Ahmed from 3pm to 5pm, discussed more than 20 agenda items, including the restoration of judicial authority for a district judge involved in a high-profile bail issue, delegating the matter to the General Appointments Committee.

Approval of the Supreme Court annual calendar was deferred due to time constraints.
