Ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election, more than 48,000 police officers across Bangladesh have completed specialised training for election duties, the Police Headquarters announced on Tuesday (4 November).

According to police sources, the training covered polling station security, conflict control, law and order maintenance, crowd management, and rapid response protocols, with emphasis on maintaining discipline and neutrality during election duties.

Meanwhile, Major General Abdul Motaleb Sajjad Mahmud, Director General of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), stated on Monday that over 545,000 Ansar-VDP members will be deployed for election duties. Their verification process will be completed with the assistance of the Special Branch (SB) of the police.

Training sessions have been conducted at both central and district levels, focusing on maintaining order at polling centres, ensuring ballot security, and safeguarding public safety.

A comprehensive joint security plan involving the Police, RAB, BGB, and Ansar forces is being finalised to ensure a peaceful and secure national election.
