A four-month-old baby has died due to 'oxygen line leakage' at a private children's hospital in Shyamoli of the capital.

The incident took place at a hospital named 'Shamoli Baby Care' in the Shyamoli area of the capital on Tuesday (June 23) afternoon.

The father of the four-month-old baby, Md. Faruk, is blaming oxygen leakage for the death of his child. He alleges that a loud explosion occurred during treatment. After that, his child died. But the hospital authorities are not accepting the matter.

It is learned that the child had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for the past five days with complications after measles.

Meanwhile, a doctor on duty, who did not want to be named, said that five more children who were in the hospital have been sent to Dhaka International Hospital on the same building due to the gas leakage.

The hospital authorities claim that the child was suffering from complications after measles. His condition had been deteriorating since the afternoon. The child's death has nothing to do with the leakage in the oxygen line.

Mohammadpur Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Md. Sharif said, "Although the patient's relatives complained about the explosion, we did not find any evidence. If the patient's relatives file a written complaint, we will take further legal action."
