Pahela Baishakh celebrated in Rajshahi with colourful procession

Pahela Baishakh 1433 was celebrated in Rajshahi with a colourful procession and various programmes organised by the district administration.

The New Year programme was arranged in front of Rajshahi Central Park and Zoo at 7:00 am on Tuesday, April 14. The procession began from the zoo gate under the slogan 'Noboborsher Oikkyotan, Gonotantrer Punorutthan' (Harmony of New Year, Resurgence of Democracy). After parading through major city streets, the procession concluded at the Children's Academy. People from all walks of life, including officials and employees from various government offices, participated spontaneously with colourful attire, banners and festoons.

Land Minister Mizanur Rahman Minu, Rajshahi City Corporation Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, Divisional Commissioner A N M Bazlur Rashid and District Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam were present at the event. Senior police and administration officials also joined the procession.

After the procession, guests inaugurated a two-day Baishakhi fair by releasing balloons at the Children's Academy premises. A cultural programme featuring New Year songs and performances was then held.
