Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has expressed his desire to visit Dhaka and meet with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, according to a Foreign Ministry statement.

The interest was conveyed by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar during a meeting with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman on the sidelines of an OIC executive session on Palestine in Jeddah on Friday (February 27).

According to the Foreign Ministry statement, Ishaq Dar recalled his earlier interactions with the late former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia and said Shahbaz Sharif is eagerly awaiting an opportunity to meet Tarique Rahman at a convenient time.

Ishaq Dar expressed hope that relations between Bangladesh and Pakistan would strengthen under the new government and praised Bangladesh’s stance on the Palestine and Rohingya issues.
