Pakistani citizen released from Kashimpur after 26 years
A Pakistani national named Rais Khan has been released from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur on Thursday (December 4) after serving 26 years.
He was freed from Part-2 of the jail at 12:30pm and later left the main gate in a red vehicle around 1:30pm.
Senior Jail Superintendent Md. Al Mamun confirmed the release to the media.
Rais Khan, a resident of Gulzar Hijri Thana in Karachi, Pakistan, had been serving a sentence under the Narcotics Control Act in a case filed by Ramna Police Station.
He was imprisoned on September 29, 1999, sentenced on July 7, 2005, and his term ended on 24 September this year. During the final period, he remained in Kashimpur Central Jail-2 as a released convict.
Upon his release, he was handed over to representatives of the Pakistani embassy in the presence of officials from the Special Branch.
