Panchagarh hits country's lowest temperature amid severe cold wave
In recent days, the temperature in Panchagarh had been ranging between 12 to 13 degrees Celsius, but the cold intensity has been increasing. According to the weather office, a mild cold wave is currently sweeping through the region.
From 9.00 am on Friday (December 13), the fog that had covered the district began to lift gradually. The weather office reported that Tetulia in Panchagarh recorded the country's lowest temperature of 8.4°C at 9.00 am.
A visit to various areas of the district revealed that from Thursday night until Friday morning, the roads were covered in dense fog. Due to the low visibility, vehicles were seen driving with headlights on. The cold intensity was further amplified by mountain winds from the north, causing hardships for low-income people.
According to the weather office, the temperatures recorded on previous days were as follows: November 30, 10.3°C; December 1, 10.5°C; December 2, 10.9°C; December 3, 11°C; December 4, 11.4°C; December 5, 12°C; December 6, 12.3°C; December 7, 12.5°C; December 8, 11.5°C; December 9, 10.9°C; December 10, 13.7°C; December 11, 12.8°C; and December 12, 12.6°C.
Rokonuzzaman Rokon, an observer at the Tetulia Weather Station, stated, "The fluctuations in temperature are increasing the cold intensity in the district." He also mentioned that the temperature will continue to drop from evening to morning, causing the cold to become more intense.
