Panchagarh shivers as temperature drops to 12°C
The country's northern border district Panchagarh is witnessing a gradual fall in temperature, bringing a distinct touch of winter. Cold winds and morning dew have created a chilly atmosphere across the region.
According to the Tetulia Weather Office, the country’s lowest temperature, 12.8 degrees Celsius, was recorded there at 6.00am on Wednesday (November 12), down from 14.5 degrees the previous day — a drop of nearly 2 degrees.
With humidity at 99 percent, dense fog covered the area from early morning, reducing visibility and forcing vehicles to move with headlights on.
Officials said fog may linger from evening until mid-morning, and in some areas during the day as well. Due to high moisture in the air, sunlight struggles to reach the ground, causing temperatures to fall quickly at night and creating heavy morning fog.
Jitendranath Roy, acting officer at the Tetulia Weather Station, said temperatures are dropping steadily and a mild cold wave may sweep through Panchagarh by late November, with several more expected in December.
