Parked bus catches fire on Dhaka’s Mohammadpur
A Midline bus caught fire while parked on Bosila Road in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur late Tuesday, with police initially suspecting a mechanical fault as the cause.
The fire broke out around 11:45pm on Tuesday in front of the gate of Jaltarang Swimming Pool, where the bus was parked.
Mohammadpur police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Halim said the bus, bearing registration number Dhaka Metro-B-11-9421, suddenly caught fire while it was parked outside the swimming pool.
Fire Service personnel later reached the scene and brought the blaze under control.
Police said they learned from the bus authorities that repair work had been carried out on the vehicle earlier that day. Based on that information, investigators initially suspect that a mechanical problem may have triggered the fire.
However, police have not ruled out other possible causes and are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being collected as part of the investigation.
