Parliamentary polls: EC approves transfer of 47 UNOs

The Election Commission (EC) has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Public Administration to transfer 47 Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) across the country. Ashok Kumar Debnath, Additional Secretary of EC, confirmed the development on Monday.

He said the commission approved the transfer of 47 UNOs, while proposals for 20 others await its approval. More than 250 UNOs will be transferred. Besides, approximately 320 Officers-in-Charge (OCs) may get transferred.

According to EC sources, in the first phase, the EC approved the transfer proposal of 13 UNOs from Dhaka Division, 8 from Chittagong Division, 2 from Barisal Division, 4 from Khulna Division, 6 from Mymensingh Division, 6 from Sylhet Division, 6 from Rajshahi Division and 2 from Rangpur Division.

The EC decided to transfer all the UNOs in the country to make the 12th National Parliamentary elections in a fair manner. It also directed the ministries to seek its permission for transferring OCs stationed in the same workplace for more than six months and UNOs stationed in the same workplace for more than a year by 5 December.
