After remaining abandoned for a long period following the mass uprising, the national and party flags have been hoisted at Awami League offices in Khulna and Thakurgaon.

On Sunday afternoon, a group of leaders and activists entered the metropolitan and district Awami League office located in the Shankha Market area on Lower Jessore Road in Khulna city. As the office was locked, they broke it open, entered inside, hoisted the national flag, placed flowers on the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Sheikh Hasina, and chanted 'Joy Bangla' slogans. Videos of the incident spread on social media.

According to multiple local sources, several leaders from the metropolitan and thana levels were present there. However, those concerned claimed that the visit to the office was a grassroots initiative, not a party directive.

After the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government on August 5, 2024, the Awami League office in Khulna was attacked, vandalised and set on fire. Since then, the offices had remained virtually closed.

Meanwhile, in Pirganj, Thakurgaon, leaders and activists hoisted the national and party flags in front of the upazila Awami League office on Sunday afternoon. Around 20-25 people from the upazila and municipal Awami League and its associate bodies were present there.

Golam Rabbani, Vice President of Pirganj upazila Awami League, said that after a long period of political inactivity, leaders and activists have come together to send a message of beginning organisational activities by hoisting the flag.
