A passenger bus caught fire while in motion in Bogura on Sunday morning (April 12).

The incident took place around 8:00am in the C Block area of Shahjahanpur upazila on a highway.

However, all passengers managed to evacuate safely, avoiding casualties, officials said.

According to fire service officials, the bus—identified as Kurigram Travels, travelling from Chattogram to Kurigram—suddenly caught fire while moving. Passengers quickly got off the vehicle as flames spread, preventing what could have been a major tragedy.

A team from the fire service rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control after about 30 minutes of effort.

Ariful Islam, station officer at Shahjahanpur Fire Service, said, "Firefighters responded immediately after being alerted and successfully extinguished the fire."

Shahjahanpur Police Sub-Inspector Abu Zarra said everyone on board escaped safely and no casualties occurred.

Fire officials suspect the blaze may have originated from the bus battery system, though the exact cause is yet to be confirmed.

Authorities said further legal and technical inquiries are in progress to determine the origin of the fire and assess damage.
