Passenger bus catches fire in Lakshmipur
A passenger bus of Jamuna Paribahan caught fire in Lakshmipur’s Komolnogor on Tuesday night.
The incident took place around 8:30pm on the Lakshmipur–Ramgati regional road in the Koraitola area. All passengers managed to evacuate safely, and no casualties were reported.
According to the Fire Service, the blaze is suspected to have originated from a mechanical fault after the engine overheated. The bus was running on diesel.
Witnesses said the bus (Dhaka Metro Ba-15-3136), traveling from Feni towards Ramgati, suddenly emitted a loud bang near Koraitola Bazar before flames engulfed it. Firefighters brought the fire under control after nearly an hour of effort.
A passenger said they narrowly escaped a major accident as the fire spread moments after the loud sound.
Komolnogor Fire Station Officer Rakibul Hasan confirmed that excessive engine heat caused the fire, leaving about 80% of the vehicle burnt, though no injuries occurred.
