Dense fog has forced authorities to temporarily suspend ferry services on the Paturia-Daulatdia route. A ferry carrying vehicles and passengers is now stranded in the middle of the Padma River, while over a hundred vehicles remain queued at both terminals, waiting to cross. According to sources at the terminal, visibility dropped early Tuesday morning (December 31) as the fog thickened, rendering the ferry marking lights unclear. Consequently, a ferry carrying vehicles and passengers became stranded mid-river. To prevent accidents, ferry operations were temporarily halted at 6:30 am. BIWTC official Salam Hossain said, "Ferry operations on the Paturia-Daulatdia route have been suspended due to dense fog. Operations will resume once the fog clears."

ঘন কুয়াশার কারণে পাটুরিয়া-দৌলতদিয়া নৌপথে সাময়িকভাবে ফেরি চলাচল বন্ধ রেখেছে কর্তৃপক্ষ। এমতাবস্থায় মাঝপদ্মায় যানবাহন ও যাত্রী নিয়ে আটকা পড়েছে একটি ফেরি। এছাড়া উভয় ফেরিঘাট এলাকায় পারাপারের অপেক্ষায় রয়েছে শতাধিক যানবাহন। ঘাট-সংশ্লিষ্ট সূত্রে জানা গেছে, মঙ্গলবার (৩১ ডিসেম্বর) ভোরে মঙ্গলবার ভোরের দিকে নদীতে কুয়াশার পরিমাণ বেড়ে যাওয়ায় ফেরির মার্কিং বাতির আলো অস্পষ্ট হয়ে যায়। এতে মাঝপদ্মায় যানবাহন ও যাত্রী নিয়ে একটি ফেরি আটকা পড়ে। পরে নৌপথে দুর্ঘটনা এড়াতে সকাল সাড়ে ৬টার দিকে ফেরি চলাচল সাময়িকভাবে বন্ধ করে দেওয়া হয়। এ ব্যাপারে বিআইডব্লিউটিসির কর্মকর্তা সালাম হোসেন বলেন, ‘নদীতে ঘন কুয়াশার কারণে পাটুরিয়া-দৌলতদিয়া নৌপথে ফেরি চলাচল বন্ধ করা হয়েছে। নদীতে কুয়াশার ঘনত্ব কমে গেলে পাটুরিয়া-দৌলতদিয়া নৌপথে পুনরায় ফেরি চলাচল শুরু করা হবে।’
