Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam said that if fascist groups again attempt to create chaos or commit crimes, the people themselves will resist them.

He made the remark on Saturday in response to the recent observation that several Facebook pages are issuing threats of movements or blockades from the fascist side on November 13.

The IGP said the fascist government fled due to public resistance. They were ousted on August 5 last year following a mass uprising. If the fugitive fascist groups again try to create unrest or commit crimes in the country, the people will resist them. The law enforcement agencies are working and will continue to work for the country and the safety of its citizens. Intelligence agencies are monitoring the Facebook pages through which the fugitive fascist groups are spreading propaganda.

The IGP further said, “We must build a culture of respecting the law. Ninety percent of the people must abide by laws and regulations. If the remaining ten percent refuse to follow them, police will act against them as per the law. But first, ninety percent of the people must comply with the law.”

When asked about the measures police will take if terrorists try to enter polling centres and disrupt voting during the election, the IGP said, “A free, neutral and festive election will be held in line with the expectations of the people. That is what we are preparing for. All our current activities are centred on this. For the first time, police training on election security is being conducted in the country because it is a responsibility upon which the nation’s future and destiny depend. We take this responsibility with utmost importance.”

He also said, “The issue of maintaining public order is clearly stated in the Code of Criminal Procedure. Police will act strictly within the bounds of law against those attempting to sabotage the election. About one and a half lakh trained police members will be deployed for security during the upcoming national election.”
