The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has issued a warning that individuals who remain in the United States after their visa expires may face a permanent ban on future travel to the country. In a statement released on Tuesday, July 29, via their official Facebook page, the embassy emphasized that consular officers have access to an individual’s full immigration history and can detect any previous violations of U.S. immigration rules. The embassy underscored that there is no room for accidental violations, stressing that it is the responsibility of visa holders to strictly comply with the terms and conditions of their visa. Failure to adhere to these regulations could result in severe consequences, including permanent restrictions on entering the United States.

যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের ভিসার মেয়াদ শেষ হওয়ার পরও দেশটিতে অবস্থান করলে আজীবন নিষেধাজ্ঞা ও ফৌজদারি মামলার মুখোমুখি হওয়ার ঝুঁকি রয়েছে বলে সতর্কতা দিয়েছে ঢাকাস্থ মার্কিন দূতাবাস। সতর্কবার্তায় মূলত বাংলাদেশি নাগরিকদের যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে ভ্রমণে আইন মেনে চলায় গুরুত্বারোপ করেছে মার্কিন কর্তৃপক্ষ। মঙ্গলবার (২৯ জুলাই) দুপুরে অফিসিয়াল ফেসবুক পেজের পোস্টে দূতাবাস জানায়, ভিসার মেয়াদ শেষেও কেউ যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে অবস্থান করলে পরে নতুন ভিসা পাওয়ার সুযোগ একেবারে বন্ধ হয়ে যেতে পারে। এমনকি ফৌজদারি মামলার মুখোমুখিও হতে পারেন। কনস্যুলার কর্মকর্তারা প্রত্যেক আবেদনকারীর অভিবাসন ইতিহাস খতিয়ে দেখেন এবং অতীতের যেকোনো লঙ্ঘন তাদের দৃষ্টিগোচর হয় বলেও জানায় দূতাবাস। বার্তায় বলা হয়, ‘ভুলবশত’ বা দুর্ঘটনাজনিত যেকোনো ধরনের নিয়ম লঙ্ঘনের সুযোগ নেই। আপনার দায়িত্ব হলো, ভিসার শর্তাবলী কঠোর ও যথাযথভাবে মেনে চলা’। বার্তায় যুক্ত ছবিতে দূতাবাস জোর দিয়ে বলেছে, এই নিয়মগুলো মেনে চলতে ব্যর্থ হলে গুরুতর পরিণতি হতে পারে। যার মধ্যে রয়েছে মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রে প্রবেশে স্থায়ী নিষেধাজ্ঞাও।
