Petrol bomb thrown at CNG auto-rickshaw in Chattogram, 2 injured
Two passengers were injured after a petrol bomb was hurled at a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the Atura Dipu area under Bayezid Bostami Police Station in Chattogram city.
The incident took place around 5:00am on Sunday (April 20).
The injured passengers are Laila (50) and Jharna (30), both residents of Wards 5 and 6 of the Raozan Municipality Area. They are reportedly sisters.
Auto-rickshaw driver Md Jamir said, “Early Sunday morning, I was taking five passengers to the shrine of Kutubdia Malek Shah. As the vehicle reached the Aturar Depot area, a group of people suddenly threw a petrol bomb. Two passengers were burned.” The injured were immediately taken to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH).
Nurul Alam Asheq, in-charge of the CMCH police outpost, confirmed that two individuals were injured in the petrol bomb attack and are currently admitted to the hospital’s burn unit. Among them, Laila Begum is being transferred to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
