Petrol bombs found in suitcase beside Dhaka-Khulna highway

Police have recovered a suitcase full of petrol bombs from beside the Dhaka-Khulna highway in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur.

The explosives were found around noon on Thursday in Munsurabad area under Hamirdi union. However, no one was arrested from the spot.

Police said miscreants brought the petrol bombs in a suitcase to the roadside, intending to carry out sabotage centring on the Awami League’s programme.

According to Bhanga police, a drive was launched following information about planned subversive activities in Munsurabad area at noon. The miscreants fled, leaving the suitcase on the roadside.

A total of 32 petrol bomb-like explosives were recovered from inside.

Officer-in-Charge Ashraf Hossain of Bhanga police station said, “We found 32 petrol bombs inside the suitcase left beside the road. No one was found at the scene, but investigation is underway.”
