PIB, Online Editors Alliance to launch digital journalism training

The Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB), in collaboration with the Online Editors Alliance, is set to launch a training programme aimed at enhancing the skills of journalists in online and digital media.

The decision was finalised during a meeting held at the PIB headquarters on Monday. PIB Director General Faruq Wasif and senior leaders of the Online Editors Alliance attended the meeting.

Among the Alliance representatives present were President Hasan Sharif, Vice President KM Ziaul Haque, General Secretary Mizanur Rahman Sohel, Joint General Secretary MAHM Kabir Ahmed, Finance Secretary Moin Bokul, and Office Secretary Mashud Bin Abdur Razzak.

The meeting focused on several key topics, including the effective integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital journalism, the importance of fact-checking to combat misinformation, and the need for continuous skill development in line with technological advancements.

PIB Director General Faruq Wasif announced that the training programme will begin next month, targeting members of the Online Editors Alliance. He also urged the Alliance to support wider efforts in training aspiring professionals in online and digital journalism.

The sessions will be jointly conducted by experienced PIB trainers and senior journalists from the Online Editors Alliance.
