Miscreants set fire to a pickup in Bogura. The incident took place on the Bogura-Naogaon Regional Highway at Erulia Bazar of Sadar Upazila around 11:30 pm on Sunday (January 7). According to the police, the perpetrators committed this act intending to instigate fear on the night of the elections. Bogura Sadar police station SI Rahim Rana said, "A pickup was going to Charmatha from Dupchanchia in the district on Sunday night. The driver slowed down the pickup near Erulia market. At that time, some miscreants threw petrol bombs on the car and set it on fire." "The cabin of the vehicle was damaged in the fire. Steps are being taken to apprehend the vandals. A case will be filed at Sadar police station in this regard," he added.

বগুড়া সদরে একটি পিকআপে আগুন দিয়েছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। রবিবার (৭ জানুয়ারি) রাত সাড়ে ১১টার দিকে সদর উপজেলার এরুলিয়া বাজারে বগুড়া-নওগাঁ আঞ্চলিক মহাসড়কে এ ঘটনা ঘটে। তবে পুলিশ বলছে, ভোটের রাতে আতঙ্ক ছড়াতে নাশকতাকারীরা এ ঘটনা ঘটিয়েছে। এ ঘটনার সত্যতা স্বীকার করে বগুড়া সদর থানা পুলিশের এসআই রহিম রানা জানান, রবিবার রাতে একটি পিকআপ জেলার দুপচাঁচিয়া থেকে চারমাথার দিকে যাচ্ছিল। পথে এরুলিয়া বাজার এলাকা হওয়ায় চালক পিকআপের গতি কিছুটা কমিয়ে দেন। এই সুযোগে কিছু দুর্বৃত্ত গাড়িতে পেট্রোল বোমা ছিটিয়ে আগুন দিয়ে পালিয়ে যায়। তিনি আরও বলেন, পিকআপ চালক পুরোপুরি সুস্থ আছেন। আগুনে বাহনটির কেবিন ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। নাশকতাকারীদের গ্রেপ্তারের চেষ্টা চলছে। এ বিষয়ে সদর থানায় মামলা দায়ের হবে।
