The government has announced plans to introduce a special 'Pink Bus Service' operated entirely by female drivers and staff to ensure safer transport for women workers. Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury made the announcement while presenting the 2026-27 fiscal year budget in the National Parliament on Thursday, June 11.

The government will implement a zero-tolerance policy against any form of violence or sexual harassment targeting female workers and professionals in the workplace, the finance minister said. The launch of the pink bus service will make commuting safer and more comfortable for women professionals and workers.

Additionally, the government has taken initiatives to establish government employment exchange centres in every district and upazila across the country. These centres aim to build a discrimination-free employment system based on merit and qualifications.

The government has already enacted the Bangladesh Labour (Amendment) Act, 2026 to strengthen legal protection for workers. A draft of the 'National Action Plan 2026-2030' has also been prepared to eliminate child labour from the country.
