A BRTC Pink Bus, introduced on Tuesday (August 18) as a dedicated public transport service for women, was involved in a minor road accident on its first day of operation in Dhaka. A bus operated by Balaka Transport hit the Pink Bus while both were travelling on the capital’s roads. Shortly after the accident, traffic police arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control. Legal action was taken against the Balaka Transport bus, and the operator was fined following the incident. The Pink Bus service was launched in Dhaka on Tuesday to provide women with safer and more comfortable public transport. A key feature of the service is the deployment of women as drivers and conductors.

রাজধানীতে চালুর প্রথম দিনেই দুর্ঘটনার শিকার হয়েছে নারীদের জন্য চালু করা ‘পিংক বাস’। মঙ্গলবার সড়কে চলাচলের সময় বাসটিতে ধাক্কা দেয় বলাকা পরিবহনের একটি বাস। ঘটনার পর ট্রাফিক পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। পরে বলাকা পরিবহনের বাসটির বিরুদ্ধে আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হয় এবং জরিমানা করা হয়। নারীদের নিরাপদ ও স্বাচ্ছন্দ্যপূর্ণ যাতায়াত নিশ্চিত করতে মঙ্গলবার রাজধানীতে পিংক বাস সার্ভিস চালু করা হয়েছে। এ বাস সার্ভিসের বিশেষত্ব হলো, চালক ও কন্ডাক্টর হিসেবে নারী কর্মীদের দায়িত্ব দেওয়া হয়েছে।
