PM greets countrymen, expatriates on Independence Day
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has extended greetings and congratulations to people from all walks of life at home and Bangladeshis living abroad on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day. He conveyed his greetings in a message on Thursday afternoon, March 25.
In the message, the prime minister said he was extending his heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all citizens and expatriate Bangladeshis on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day.
He said March 26 is a glorious and historic day in the nation's life. On this day, he recalled with deep reverence the nation's greatest sons, whose sacrifices earned an independent and sovereign Bangladesh. He also expressed gratitude to the valiant freedom fighters who participated in the Liberation War, the women who suffered, and all who dedicated themselves to the struggle for independence, while praying for the souls of the martyrs.
The prime minister further said Independence Day rekindles the spirit of courage, sacrifice and patriotism in our lives. He called on everyone to work together to build a discrimination-free, democratic, peaceful and prosperous Bangladesh.
He urged everyone to uphold national unity, mutual tolerance and the spirit of patriotism to further advance the country's development.
Concluding, the prime minister wished success for all programmes marking Independence and National Day.
