PM inaugurates Bogura City Corporation

Bogura has officially been declared a city corporation, with BNP Chairperson and Acting Prime Minister Tarique Rahman unveiling the new status plaque at the Bogura Municipality building on Monday (April 20).

He inaugurated the Bogura City Corporation at around 12:00pm, marking the formal launch of the upgraded administrative status.

Earlier in the day, around 11:00am, he unveiled the foundation plaque of the District Lawyers’ Association building. Shortly after, he inaugurated an e-bail bond system at the district judge court before proceeding to the city corporation inauguration programme.

Tarique Rahman arrived at Bogura Circuit House around 9:45am, where he was received by District Commissioner Md. Taufiqur Rahman.

As part of his day-long visit, he is scheduled to visit Ziaur Rahman Rural Hospital in Gabtali around 12:45pm to inaugurate a measles-rubella vaccination campaign, followed by a family card distribution programme at Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman Degree College ground at 1:00pm.

He is also expected to launch a canal excavation project in Noshipur around 1:45pm and later visit his ancestral home in Bagbari.

In the afternoon, he will address a public rally at Altafunnesa Playground in Bogura city at 4:00pm as the chief guest. He is also set to inaugurate the newly constructed Bogura Press Club building and the reconstruction work of Baitur Rahman Central Mosque.

The visit is scheduled to conclude in the evening with his departure for Dhaka, with a brief stopover at the Rural Development Academy (RDA) in Bogura on the return journey.
