Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has laid the foundation stone for development activities at the historic Sholakia Eidgah field in Kishoreganj. He inaugurated a 170-million-taka development project at a ceremony held on the Sholakia Eidgah grounds on Sunday evening.

The Prime Minister announced that the government has undertaken a 17-crore-taka project for the development of the Eidgah field, out of which 60 million taka has already been allocated to the district administration. He stated that work will commence promptly to ensure that hundreds of thousands of worshippers can offer their Eid prayers in a more beautiful and convenient environment.

Following the event, he participated in a tree-plantation program organized by the Kishoreganj District Chatra Dal and planted a sapling with his own hands. Emphasizing the importance of environmental conservation and greening, he called for extensive tree planting across the Sholakia grounds.

Drawing a parallel to the plain of Arafat in Saudi Arabia, the Prime Minister said that neem trees will be planted at Sholakia. Once grown, worshippers will enjoy shade during Eid prayers, while children and local residents will benefit from them throughout the rest of the year.

The Prime Minister's visit created a festive atmosphere in the Sholakia area throughout the day, with people from various professions gathering at the Eidgah field to catch a glimpse of him and listen to his speech. After the event, he departed for Dhaka by road.
