PM inspects army's summer military exercise in Barishal

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inspected the Bangladesh Army's summer training exercise in Babuganj, Barishal, on Monday morning, July 13. He arrived at the exercise site in the East Rahmatpur area around 11:30 am and observed various training activities and wartime preparedness of the army personnel.

During the exercise, the Prime Minister observed troops taking positions, manoeuvring through dense jungles and simulating real combat scenarios. Senior army officers briefed him on various aspects of the exercise and the force's strategic readiness.

He also witnessed the operation of the anti-drone multi-barrel system used to detect and neutralise enemy drones. The Prime Minister spoke with the personnel, enquired about their well-being and urged them to perform their duties with professionalism and dedication.

Later, he sat with the troops on the ground, shared a meal prepared in the field, and listened to their training and operational experiences. The meal included white rice, lentils, mashed potato, shrimp and egg curry cooked over open flames.

Addressing the troops, the PM said the people have deep trust in the Bangladesh Army to protect the country's independence and sovereignty. He emphasised maintaining that trust through modern technology, updated training and maximum preparedness.

Recalling his own upbringing in an army family, he said visiting the troops brings back childhood memories. He expressed hope that the Bangladesh Army would earn further global recognition and assured continued government support for modernisation of the force.

Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, PM's Defence Adviser Brigadier General (Retd) Dr A K M Shamsul Islam, Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, and PM's Military Secretary Major General Abul Hasnat Mohammad Tariq were present.
