Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has mourned the death of Fazlur Rahman, the chairman of City Group. She prayed for the peace of the departed soul and extended her deepest condolences to his bereaved family members. The prominent industrialist died at the United Hospital in Dhaka on Monday (Dec 25). He was suffering from respiratory illness for a long time. Relatives said he worked until Sunday (Dec 24) evening. He was taken to the hospital after he fell sick. He died at around 4am while undergoing treatment there. Fazlur Rahman is survived by his wife, son and three daughters.

সিটি গ্রুপের চেয়ারম্যান ফজলুর রহমানের মৃত্যুতে গভীর শোক ও দুঃখ প্রকাশ করেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা। সোমবার (২৫ ডিসেম্বর) রাজধানীর একটি হাসপাতালে এই বিশিষ্ট শিল্প উদ্যোক্তার মৃত্যুর সংবাদে শোকাহত প্রধানমন্ত্রী প্রয়াতের বিদেহী আত্মার শান্তি কামনা করেন ও তার শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবারের সদস্যদের প্রতি গভীর সমবেদনা জানান। স্বজনরা জানান, রোববারও (২৪ ডিসেম্বর) তিনি সন্ধ্যা পর্যন্ত অফিস করেছেন। পরে রাতে অসুস্থবোধ করলে দ্রুত তাকে হাসপাতালে নেয়া হয়। সেখানে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় ভোর ৪টার দিকে তিনি মৃত্যুবরণ করেন। ফজলুর রহমান স্ত্রী, এক ছেলে ও তিন মেয়ে এবং অসংখ্য গুণগ্রাহী রেখে গেছেন।
