PM mourns death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, extending condolences to the leadership and people of Qatar.
In a condolence message addressed to Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Sunday (July 12), the prime minister said he was deeply saddened by the passing of the former ruler.
On behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, as well as personally, Tarique Rahman conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the Qatari royal family, government and the people of Qatar during their time of mourning.
Describing Sheikh Hamad as a visionary statesman, the prime minister said his prudent leadership transformed Qatar into a modern, prosperous and globally respected nation. He noted that the late Emir's contributions to regional peace, economic development, education and international cooperation would be remembered with deep respect.
Tarique Rahman also reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to its longstanding and brotherly relations with Qatar, saying the partnership has been built over decades on mutual trust, shared values and enduring people-to-people ties.
In his message, the prime minister prayed for the eternal peace of Sheikh Hamad's soul and asked Almighty Allah to grant strength, patience and comfort to Emir Sheikh Tamim, the royal family and the people of Qatar in their bereavement.
