PM orders action against 6 more officials for negligence in waste removal

After temporarily suspending two officials of Dhaka North and South City Corporations, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed to take action against 6 more officials within 48 hours.

State Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam said that he received this instruction from the Prime Minister on Friday night (May 29).

Regarding the Prime Minister's instruction, the State Minister said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has directed to withdraw the Chief Executive Officers, Chief Waste Management Officers and Chief Health Officers of both Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporations within the next 48 hours and take disciplinary action against them for failing to comply with the instructions to clean garbage, clean water drainage areas and take measures to prevent dengue in the capital.

The State Minister said that we are working to quickly start the process to implement this instruction of the Honorable Prime Minister.

Earlier, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman temporarily suspended two regional officers of Dhaka North and South City Corporations for negligence in removing sacrificial waste from several places in the capital and ordered action to be taken against them. These two regional officers are Dhaka North City Corporation (Zone-5) Regional Executive Officer Md. Sadequr Rahman (Deputy Secretary) and Dhaka South City Corporation (Zone-1) Regional Executive Officer Kazi Saleh Mustanzi (Deputy Secretary).

It is worth noting that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman went out to visit various development projects and sacrificial waste management in the capital from 2pm to 6pm without any protocol on Friday.

During this time, he expressed dissatisfaction over the non-removal of waste from several places in Dhaka, said State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam.
