PM orders measures to minimise losses, suffering in train accident

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed the local administration to take necessary measures to minimise losses and alleviate suffering following the train accident in Santahar, Bogura, which was carrying homebound passengers for Eid.

On Wednesday evening, March 18, he spoke with the Bogura District Commissioner and Superintendent of Police about the affected area. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inquired about the overall situation there. He instructed them to take necessary steps for the swift rescue of the accident-hit train and to ensure passengers reach their destinations quickly. Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed the matter.

The Press Secretary informed that upon hearing news of the train accident in Bogura, the Prime Minister called the District Commissioner and Superintendent of Police to learn about the situation. He instructed them to take swift measures to ensure necessary medical treatment for those injured in the accident. Atiqur Rahman Rumon also stated that the Prime Minister instructed the local administration to swiftly rescue the affected train, restore communication, and take necessary measures to get passengers to their destinations quickly.

It is noteworthy that nine coaches of the Dhaka-bound Nil Sagar Express derailed in Adamdighi, Bogura, around 2:30 pm on Wednesday. Several passengers were reported injured.

As Bogura is his constituency, the Prime Minister has paid special attention to this accident. Tarique Rahman was elected as a Member of Parliament from the Bogura-6 constituency in the 13th National Parliamentary Election held on February 12 this year. Later, after being sworn in as Prime Minister, he vacated the seat.
