PM orders suspension of 2 city corporation officials for negligence

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has ordered the temporary suspension of two Dhaka city corporation regional officers for negligence in removing sacrificial waste at several places in the capital and action should be taken against them.

State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam said this on Friday (May 29).

He said, "The Prime Minister inspected various development projects and sacrificial waste management activities in the capital from 4pm to 6pm today without any protocol. During this time, he expressed dissatisfaction over the non-removal of waste at several places."

The State Minister said that in some places in Elephant Road, Green Road, Farmgate and Karwan Bazar areas, garbage and garbage accumulated earlier, including sacrificial waste, were lying on the roads. Seeing this, on the instructions of the Prime Minister, two Regional Executive Officers (Deputy Secretaries) of Dhaka North and South City Corporations have been immediately assigned (OSD) to the Ministry of Public Administration and departmental action has been ordered against them for neglecting their duties.

The temporarily suspended officials are Dhaka North City Corporation (Zone-5) Regional Executive Officer Md. Sadequr Rahman (Deputy Secretary) and Dhaka South City Corporation (Zone-1) Regional Executive Officer Kazi Saleh Mustanzi (Deputy Secretary).

The Prime Minister's Deputy Press Secretary Zahidul Islam Rony said, "The Prime Minister himself drove around various roads of the capital since the afternoon and observed the progress of the waste removal work."

He also said that State Minister for Local Government and Cooperatives Mir Shahe Alam was also in the Prime Minister's car. Also present were Dhaka South City Corporation Administrator Md. Abdus Salam, BNP National Executive Committee Special Secretary Muhammad Belayet Hossain Mridha, and Prime Minister's Private Secretary-2 Md. Mehedul Islam.
