Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has said his administration has already started implementing the promises it made to the people, despite being only about two and a half months into its tenure.

Speaking at a civic gathering organized by Sylhet City Corporation in Chandnighat during the inauguration of a waterlogging mitigation project, Tarique Rahman compared his young government to an infant on Saturday (May 2).

Tarique Rahman said, we talked about family cards to make women self-reliant across the country and farmer cards to support farmer brothers. We said that we want to develop those who are skilled in various sports or who have various talents from among our future generations.

Regarding bringing out skilled players from across the country, he said, those of our age here, more or less, have the idea that a program called 'Notun Kuri' was launched during the time of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman to bring out talented people from among the young children of the country. Many of you who saw Shaheed Zia at that time have an idea about it. As an extension of that, we want to bring out good players in the future from among these young children. As a part of that, we will officially start 'Notun Kuri Sports' from the soil of Sylhet today.

The Prime Minister said that until the day after yesterday, about 130,000 children across the country had registered their names. Out of this, seven to eight games have been decided. We believe that we can bring out some players from within who will win gold medals for the country in the international arena in the future and will be able to enhance the reputation of the country. Just as cricket has brought Bangladesh to the world stage and brought honor, or the women's football team has brought international honor to the country, similarly our children can also bring honor to the country in the future.

Tarique Rahman said, we have many young members who do freelancing, various IT tasks and data processing; we will try to create opportunities for them in the IT park. So that those who are working get opportunities there and their income increases. We will also give opportunities to those who want to work but cannot. We want to do this work here in the IT sector.

He said, we will try to update and modernize the vocational institutes we have. We will train these people according to different educational qualifications, so that they can arrange employment inside and outside the country.

He further said, "The problem will not be solved by just expanding the roads. At the same time, if we can develop the railway, then we can travel at a lower cost. At the same time, businessmen can also bring their business goods at a lower cost. The current government is taking initiatives in this regard.

Tarique Rahman said, how to expand rail communication across the country is being seriously considered. If the railway system is improved, naturally most people will be interested in traveling by this means, as a result, travel costs will decrease and business costs will also decrease. On the other hand, the more roads are expanded, the more new vehicles will be added and traffic pressure will increase.
