PM sends letter of solidarity to Oman's Sultan
A personal letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman expressing solidarity with Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq has been handed over to the Omani leader.
Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir delivered the letter during a meeting with Oman's Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Al Busaidi on Wednesday, April 1.
In the letter, the prime minister expressed Bangladesh's full support for the leadership, government and people of Oman in the context of the current regional situation. He also expressed deep concern over the attacks, loss of life and damage to property in Oman.
The prime minister expressed gratitude to the Omani government for the steps taken to ensure the safety and welfare of the large number of Bangladeshis residing in Oman and pledged the government's support if needed.
During the meeting, the foreign affairs adviser praised Oman's constructive role in resolving the conflict between Iran and the United States and promoting peace, dialogue and diplomacy in the region. Discussions were also held on strengthening bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Oman and enhancing cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir is currently visiting several Gulf countries as the prime minister's special envoy to express solidarity and strengthen ties with nations in the region.
