Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived at the naval base in Mongla of Bagerhat on Thursday afternoon. He reached the jetty of BNS Mongla by water and later inspected the Navy warship BNS Abu Bakr at the base. The prime minister is now staying at the naval base for lunch. He is scheduled to visit Mongla Port jetty and the proposed special economic zone later in the day. Earlier, Tarique Rahman arrived by helicopter at the field of Nalian Secondary School in Dacope Upazila of Khulna at 10:28 am. At Nalian Bazar intersection, he waved to hundreds of people waiting there and exchanged greetings and handshakes with them. Local residents had gathered there since morning to catch a glimpse of the prime minister.

বাগেরহাটের মোংলা নৌঘাঁটিতে পৌঁছেছেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী তারেক রহমান। বৃহস্পতিবার (২২ অক্টোবর) দুপুর পৌনে ১টার দিকে নৌপথে তিনি বাংলাদেশ নৌবাহিনীর ঘাঁটি বানৌজা মোংলার জেটিতে পৌঁছান। ঘাঁটিতে পৌঁছে নৌবাহিনীর যুদ্ধজাহাজ বিএনএস আবু বকর পরিদর্শন করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। পরে মধ্যাহ্নবিরতির জন্য নৌঘাঁটিতে অবস্থান করেন তিনি। বিরতি শেষে মোংলা বন্দর জেটি ও বিশেষ অর্থনৈতিক অঞ্চল পরিদর্শনের কথা রয়েছে তাঁর। এর আগে বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল ১০টা ২৮ মিনিটে হেলিকপ্টারে খুলনার দাকোপ উপজেলার নলিয়ান মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয় মাঠে অবতরণ করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। সেখান থেকে হেঁটে নলিয়ান কোস্টগার্ডের পন্টুনে যান তিনি। সকাল ১০টা ৪৮ মিনিটে নৌপথে মোংলার উদ্দেশে যাত্রা শুরু করেন। নলিয়ান বাজার মোড়ে অপেক্ষমাণ শত শত মানুষের সঙ্গে হাত নেড়ে শুভেচ্ছা বিনিময় করেন প্রধানমন্ত্রী। এ সময় স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের সঙ্গে করমর্দনও করেন তিনি। তাঁকে একনজর দেখতে সকাল থেকেই সেখানে ভিড় করেন অনেকে।
