PM to unveil Bogura city corporation plaque on April 20
Tarique Rahman is set to visit his home district Bogura for the first time after assuming office as Prime Minister. During this visit, he will announce the inauguration of Bogura Municipality as a city corporation.
A festive atmosphere is now prevailing in this northern district due to his visit.
At a press conference organized at Circuit House on Wednesday (April 15), State Minister for Local Government Mir Shahe Alam and Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon gave details.
According to the schedule, the Prime Minister will reach Bogura from Dhaka by road at 10:30 am on April 20. After that, he will go to the Judge Court to inaugurate the online bail bond issuance programme and the newly constructed building of the Bar Association. From there, he will unveil the much-awaited Bogura City Corporation plaque.
The Prime Minister's day-long programme also includes a visit to the ancestral home in Bagbari of Gabtoli. There, he will distribute family cards, will visit Ziaur Rahman Village Hospital, and inaugurate a canal cutting programme for agricultural development and waterlogging relief. At the end of the tour, the Prime Minister will address a public rally organized by the district BNP at the historic Altafunnesa playground in the city at 3:30 pm as the chief guest.
In this regard, the acting general secretary of the district BNP, Mosharraf Hossain (MP), said that the Prime Minister has confirmed the visit of him and newly elected member of parliament Rezaul Karim Badsha on April 20. He said, "There has been great enthusiasm among the leaders and activists and the common people regarding the visit to the birthplace of the martyred president and the announcement of the city corporation."
It is worth noting that this small municipality of 1.25 square miles, established in 1876, has become a large town after a long time. In 2006, its area increased to 69.56 square kilometers, and according to the 2022 census, about 400,000 people live here.
